I am a California native and a resident of San Francisco since 1991. I am a freelance photographer, and enjoy sharing my visions of San Francisco and California through my images. I developed my interest in photography as a youth, and improved my techniques while pursuing a journalism degree in Southern California. I began photographing people in October, 2004--the results can be seen in the Human section. I switched from film to digital in 2005, and the site features images shot in both formats.
My photographs portray my travels and experiences in urban locations (such as San Francisco), and landscapes (primarily in California.) I am an outdoor enthusiast and take frequent treks to Yosemite and the Sierra. While there, I try to capture and create unique perspectives on natural landscapes. In San Francisco, I enjoy walking the city to seek out urban subjects that most people take for granted--and present them in a different view. I try to frame my images in a way that challenges the viewer to see them in a new, unexpected way. They become striking, almost abstract photographs.
Outdoors activities include sea kayaking, cross-country, snowshoeing, skiing, biking, hiking, etc. Frequent treks are taken with close friends to outdoor locations throughout Northern California.
